A decent case can be made that the Huret Compétition was the best of the 1950s pull-chain derailleurs. It was rigid and strong, with a welcome lack of flimsy pivots, it had an offset pulley cage that made a reasonable job of maintaining a constant chain gap, and the detailing was good - for example the disc that you turned to adjust the chain tension had a higher quality feel than its equivalent on most competing models.
This patent marks its debut in 1949.
