LTWOO (pronounced 'L2') is one of those brands that you come across more and more frequently - unknown in the West, a serious player in China and offering interesting levels of quality and technical sophistication. LTWOO do not even have an English language option on their web site. This is a Chinese brand, aimed at the large and increasingly demanding Chinese domestic market. You should not be too surprised if it hits the West like a hurricane sometime soon.

I believe that the story of LTWOO (and possibly S-Ride and Sensah) may go something like this:

  • SRAM had a long standing factory in Guangzhou (Canton), China. Guangzhou is in the Pearl River delta in southern China.
  • In 2013 SRAM opened a brand spanking new factory in Kunshan, near Shanghai, 750 miles away. Shortly afterwards SRAM closed its Guangzhou factory and transferred its activities to Kunshan.
  • This left a slew of talented, knowledgeable, experienced, Chinese, ex-SRAM-empoyees in the Guangzhou area.
  • From this group three new companies emerged, LTWOO, Sensah and S-Ride, all based closed to each other.

LTWOO was founded in July 2013, is based in Zhuhai City, with a factory in nearby Zongshan City, all of which is in Guangdong, China, is in the Pearl River Delta, and is not far from Macau.

Its web site contains the phrase 'Customer is our God'. God is spelled with a capital G, adding a novel twist to Karl Marx's idea that:

  • "Religion is the sigh of the oppressed creature, the heart of a heartless world, and the soul of soulless conditions. It is the opium of the people."
