This article, describing reliability trials based around Saint-Étienne, has all the feel of an advertorial - or at least of an example of strenuous product placement. Mysteriously all the contestants happened to use Le Chemineau gear systems - which, surprisingly, happened to be manufactured in Saint-Étienne, and which also, coincidentally, were facing intense local competition from the new Le Cyclo derailleurs.

This article might just be one of the first shots in what turned out to be a long and bitter war between the two brands.
