This advert records the news that the Boizot Tri-direct won The TCF (Touring Club de France) prize at the 1913 ‘Championnat de la Bicyclette polymultipliée’ (the championship for multi-geared bicycles) held by the ACP (Audax Club Parisien). This event, held over the famous Circuit de Chanteloup, was repeated in 1914 and then annually from 1921. It became a famous proving ground for derailleur systems.

Using my trusty schoolboy french, I would be sorely tempted to translate ‘la Grande Médaille de Vermeil’ as ‘the big red medal’, which sounds like an honour that Noddy would solemnly award to Big Ears for heroically saving Postman Pat from being run over by Thomas the Tank Engine... this could run on and on.
