This article reports on the Paris and St-Étienne cycle shows in autumn 1930.

Notable news was:

  • Cyclo was the dominant derailleur brand and had introduced a 4 speed version of the classic Le Cyclo derailleur.
  • At the St-Étienne show there were two stands commemorating Paul de Vivie (who had recently died), with Chemineau providing the bikes in this area.
  • Moves were afoot to erect a monument in Paul de Vivie’s honour.

The king (Paul de Vivie) was dead, but would Cyclo’s Albert Raimond or Chemineau’s Joanny Panel be the new king?
