By 1932 the Le Cyclo 4 speed has joined the Cyclo stable. It’s the perfect derailleur for riding up a ladder while smoking a pipe.

There is a feast of other information in this advert. In the 1931 Tour de France, Cyclo riders came 2nd, 4th and 5th in the Touriste-Routiers class of less fancied riders who were allowed to use gearing systems. The winning Touriste-Routier was Max Bulla, the only Touriste-Routier to have ever worn the yellow jersey during a stage (Bulla possibly used a Super-Champion derailleur - but I am not sure). Cyclo claim that 100% of the riders who used derailleurs finished the race - compared with 11% of riders who used ‘retournement’ whatever that may be.

The advert also refers to a International Championship that included derailleur bicycles and was held twice in Turin - in 1928 and 1929. The derailleur was straying outside France.
