Supjam Sport (3-speed 1st style) derailleur

The Supjam Sport is a beautiful example of Supjam's policy of combining random features of the French derailleurs of the time. The main body is pure early-1950s Huret Competition. The pulley cage is an even purer copy of that of a 1946 Simplex Champion du Monde 46, right down to the p-pivot being concentric with the guide pulley. As with many Supjam features, this is odd, because it probably makes the gear change significantly worse than if they had done the easy thing and simply copied the Huret pulley cage.

One final oddity is that the hole for the dropout bolt is small (Huret used a large diameter hole) and is threaded. Supjam used a distinctive counter-sunk attachment screw and shaped washer, which screw in from the inside.

This, very well-used, example of a Sport has the following features:

The main arm is unbranded.
It has a simple lock-washer between the main arm and the chain-tension adjustment ring, with no 'get-you-home' catch.
It has a silver, aluminium, chain-tension adjustment ring - which may once have been coated in Supjam's signature gold lacquer as you can see traces of gold in the grooves around its outside.
It has a silver, aluminium, outer pulley cage plate - which, also, may once have been coated in gold lacquer as you can see traces in the lettering and around the bases of the pillars attaching the inner pulley cage plates.
Its tension pulley bolt is labelled '3 Velocidades' - so this is a 3 speed.

Two final points:

This example has Supjam's idiosyncratic dropout bolt and washer.
If you click on the 'Photos' tab and scroll down you can see images of the lever that came with this derailleur. It is silver - but (as above) may once have been coated in gold lacquer as you can see traces of gold in the lightning-flash logo.
