DISRAELI GEARS
The SunRace Driven RZ was the first step in SunRace trying to make a road derailleur that was truly world class. It certainly used world class materials, with an aluminium hanger bolt, a carbon-wrapped outer parallelogram plate and pulley cage plate and a titanium cable clamp bolt. It shared all this tech with gold anodised touches, a certain Campagnolo-like carbon look and groovy cutaway sealed bearing pulleys.
All of this is terribly impressive - except the weight. In 2008, that chunky 200g was more Ultegra than Dura-Ace - and neither of these Shimano models flirted with carbon or titanium. Odd.
You may also note a large number of similarities between this derailleur and some microSHIFT designs, this may indicate that the two companies worked together on this derailleur.
