Soleus Bicycle Components is based in Jiaxing near Shanghai (somewhere between Shanghai and Ningbo).

I do not know when they were established, but Soleus were in business in 2001 and operated a factory in Mexico, although they may subsequently have closed it. Their name also crops up in a few places as a supplier of basic friction thumbshifters that warm some people’s hearts.

Their derailleur range, as you might expect, is a cornucopia of copies of low-end Shimano models.
