The Regina EEC range of derailleurs was launched during one of the most anarchic periods in European derailleur history. Most people consider that these are Simplex designs, manufactured by Simplex. But they hit the market at a time when Simplex was going bankrupt and Stratec was taking over their derailleur business. My guess is that these are Simplex designs manufactured by Stratec.
However it worked out, these are pretty low-end, decidedly average, derailleurs. It is hard to discern why exactly Regina would want its brand emblazoned on them. And we can only guess what 'EEC' means.
I have four Regina EEC in this collection - and each displays slight differences from the others. They could be described as follows:
- A short cage model with grey plastic knuckles and silver steel parallelogram and pulley cage plates that is similar to a Simplex S007 T or Stratec RX007.
- A similar short cage model again with grey plastic knuckles but with black steel parallelogram and pulley cage plates.
- A long cage model with grey plastic knuckles and silver steel parallelogram and pulley cage plates that is similar to a Simplex S007 GT or Stratec TX007.
- A short cage model that is largely black plastic with a steel inner parallelogram plate that is similar to a Stratec RT005.
Gruesome.
This is an unused example that is listed first above. Its features include:
- It has a short (50mm) pulley cage.
- It has grey plastic knuckles.
- It a silver steel outer parallelogram plate and pulley cage plates.
- It has no adjustment screw at the b-pivot. This is unlike my examples of the Simplex S007 T or Stratec RX007.
- It has Allen key pulley bolts (as used on my Simplex S007 T) not the Torx headed bolts used on my Stratec RX007.
