This 1965 Kawamura catalogue, for Japanese consumption, dates from just one year after Howie Cohen made his first contact with the firm. It shows that Kawamura offered three different derailleur models, all of which appear to use SunTour pull-chain derailleurs.

When, in the mid 1960s, the Americans arrived in Japan looking for good quality bikes at a decent price, the Japanese had derailleur models, designed for their domestic market, ready and waiting for them.
