Juliette Garnier and M. Pitard - 1925 photo

For her 1925 birl around the Chanteloup, Juliette Ganier seems to have ditched the elderly M. Poisson and taken up with the younger and noticeably more dashing M. Pitard. Wikipedia reports that a Louis Pitard and a 'Juliette Pitard' competed on a tandem in the Paris-Brest-Paris race in 1931. Perhaps this picture captures the start of a beautiful romance.

Despite dumping M. Poisson, you will be pleased to note that Juliette has stayed true to the Le Chemineau derailleur.

In its report on the 1925 Championnat de la Bicyclette Polymultipliée the T.C.F. Revue Mensuelle noted that suspension forks were 'de rigueur' on tandems that year - and, lo and behold, this handsome couple are riding a tandem sporting suspension forks that would not look out of place on a 1950s Schwinn Black Phantom.
