This is the patent that time forgot - twice. In the first instance it shows a Gian Robert design that was actively used from the early 1960s - but the application date is 1977. By this time the design was well out of date. In the second instance, and conforming to stereotype, the Italian Patent Office took a mere 8 years to grant the patent.

It is, however, nice to see Marcello Gambato confirmed in writing as the source of this iconic design, with one adjustment screw in each knuckle.
