Idéal - leaflet

Ideal - leaflet page 1 main image

This 1935 leaflet is largely devoted to the extensive range of Idéal hubs manufactured by Claudius Jacquemard. They include plain vanilla hubs, hub brakes, freehubs and freehubs with hub brakes.

It also includes:

  • A rather splendid photo of what I take to be St-Étienne’s brigade of cycling policemen. These fine gentlemen have apparently chosen to use Idéal hub brakes and derailleurs. Following Sergeant Pluck’s atomic theory, some part of them would therefore be derailleur.
  • A slightly wayward advert for an electric iron.
  • And most important of all, details of two derailleur models - a 2 speed and a 3 speed (see page 5). One or both of these are claimed to have won prizes in 1932.

  • Publisher: Idéal
