I think this is a relatively early Criterium that Galli produced. It has a very plain outer parallelogram plate and small adjustment screws. The finish, particularly of the Galli logo is slightly nasty.

In terms of the variables that seem to define Galli models, this silver example has:

• an Allen-key hanger bolt,
• a b-knuckle with a large reinforcing 'gusset' under the cable outer stop,
• an outer parallelogram plate with an outline logo, and a high-mounted cable clamp arm, giving a high actuation ratio,
• a straight pulley cage with the Galli logo, with a very strange stop arrangment,
• unbranded pulley wheels,
• an Allen-key cable clamp bolt.

Overall, however, this Galli Criterium is a very viable alternative to a Campagnolo Nuovo Record. It is very light, strongly constructed and has clean lines and an welcome absence of Campagnolo’s baroque flourishes.
