The Simplex Juy 59, shown here, was a Simplex Tour de France embellished with a lot of classy decorative flourishes and a slightly redesigned pulley cage. None of this could disguise the fact that, by 1959, it was a hopelessly outdated design. Lucien Juy did not know how lucky he was that ‘sell-by-dates’ had not yet been invented.
