French Patent # 791,757 - Simplex

French Patent 791,757 - Simplex Champion 35 main image

This is an interesting patent. It is for a design that is very similar to the classic single pulley Simplex Champion du Monde that was produced in industrial quantities in the late 1930s (and possibly early 1940s) - but with the difference that the pull-chain is concentric with the main sliding rod and with the pulley wheel. On the classic Simplex Champion du Monde the pull chain runs though space about a centimetre away from the sliding rod (see French Patent # 791,757 Addition # 49,094 and Simplex Champion du Monde Extra Leger).

I have never seen the, rather classy, concentric pull-chain design described in this patent in the flesh.
