Ferdi Kübler, Swiss, 1919 - 2016
Ferdi Kübler won the Tour in 1950 and the World Road Race Championship in 1951. He was famous for foolhardy attacking moves and for wearing a Stetson - earning him the nickname ‘the Cowboy’.
As you might expect of the early 1950s, the Cowboy won his Tour riding a Simplex Tour de France derailleur.
For those who are wondering, Tebag was a bike brand, not a misspelled description of his arguably ill-fitting, Darjeeling coloured, shirt.
