‘The Bicycle’ was a British cycling magazine that appeared as a competitor to ‘Cycling’, possibly in early 1936. At that time the editor of Cycling, H. H. England, vehemently opposed massed start road racing. This led to a split in the British cycling community, with the British League of Racing Cyclists, which supported massed start road racing, supporting The Bicycle and shunning Cycling.

However, by the late 1950s, I believe that the circulation of cycling magazines was falling, and The Bicycle and Cycling were merged - with Cycling the senior partner and surviving title.
