Sports Illustrated

Sports Illustrated is one of those iconic American cultural artefacts that are slightly mysterious to Europeans (think: the Superbowl, Oprah Winfrey and Duck Dynasty).

On the one hand it appears to be a sports magazine, albeit one read by a mere 23 million people every week. On the other hand, its most famous issue, published once a year, is devoted to fashion models in swimwear. Wozitallabaht - eh?

In 1976 it carried a derailleur ad.
