French Patent 760,762 - Laval thumbnail

Laval was the derailleur brand of Adolphe André Laval, who was possibly based in Paris, France.

The sum total of my knowledge of Adolphe André Laval is that:

  • He applied for a patent for a fork-type derailleur in 1932.
  • He produced a derailleur called the Laval Poiplum based on this design, probably shortly thereafter.
  • I have also seen photos of a 3-speed freewheel that is branded 'Poiplum'.

Note that Adolphe André Laval made his patent application only 7 months after Oscar Egg applied for his first patent for a Super Champion fork-type design.
