Japan's Bicycle Guide '56 1956
Japan's Bicycle Guide was a title produced annually as a joint venture between the Japan Bicycle Industry Association and the Japan Bicycle Exporters' Association. I think that the first edition may have been produced in 1951, and that the series continued at least into the 1980s. I believe that Shozaburo Shimano was instrumental in producing the early editions.
Japan's Bicycle Guide was generally a thick, well produced, English language, book with hundreds of pages printed on high quality paper. It detailled a vast range of products produced by the Japanese bicycle industry, from ball bearings to complete cycles. In the 1950s and 1960s Japanese companies rarely produced their own English language literature, and western cycling magazines rarely reviewed Japanese equipment, so Japan's Bicycle Guide stands almost alone as a source of information.
