Charvin Le Lautaret (2nd style)

This fine derailleur is Francis Charvin's second Le Lautaret derailleur. It shares many basic features with his first design, although nearly all the components are actually very slightly different!

The headline news is that it has an assymetrical pulley cage with an offset guide pulley that looks alarmingly modern. The SRAM Eagle series springs to mind.

As with the first design it has:

  • a massive central cylinder housing the sliding rod and spring assembly
  • an internal spring to provide chain tension, which is unusual for the time.
