DISRAELI GEARS
Chair was the brand of Arai Industrial Company Limited. The company was possibly founded by a Mr Ryozo Arai in 1915 in Nagoya, Japan. Arai manufactured a range of different cycle parts possibly specializing in hubs and brakes. They appear to have used the Chair brand up until the late 1970s, at which point they started to use the Arai brand. I have also been told that Arai only used the Chair brand for exports, and that their products were always branded as Arai in Japan.
The company appears to still be in business today, manufacturing motorcar parts. Toyota, Honda, Mitsubishi Motors, and Suzuki all manufacture cars in Nagoya.
