Bernhard Britz, Swedish, 1906 - 1935

Bernhard Britz was a Swedish cycling star of the late 1920s and early 1930s. He won 9 Swedish national titles and two bronze medals at the 1932 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles.

He died in 1935 in an accident with a truck while competing in a road race.

He appears on this web site because, shortly before his death, he was involved in the development and promotion of the Brivex derailleur system. It is possible that the Brivex name is a concatenation of 'Britz' and 'växlar', the swedish word for gears.
