Austrian Patent # 154,424 - J.Wi.S

Austrian Patent 154,424 - JWiS main image

This patent is the brother of Austrian Patent # 154,423. The earlier patent is for J.Wi.S's sprung chain that could stretch. This patent is for the shape of the teeth on the sprockets that are designed to 'open up' the sprung chain and engage with it, particularly when the chain is moving from one sprocket to another.

This is one of three Austrian Patents that relate to the J.Wi.S derailleur system. The first was granted in 1937 and displays the double headed eagle of Austria. The second one and this one were granted in late 1938, after the Anschluss, and these show an eagle holding a Swastika.
