In this 1911 article, Paul de Vivie proposed that the TCF should hold another of its legendary ‘Concours’ - reliability trials for touring bicycles. While making this case he took the opportunity to review the state of the touring bike (and derailleur) world and to argue for his own ideas - such as the smaller, 50 cm wheels, that can be seen on the some of his own bikes.
