The Super Champion OE Route was Super Champion's final touring derailleur. It combined features of the Super Champion Sport 46 Dural:
- the guide pulley concentric with the p-pivot
- the small chain pusher plates around a circular guide pulley
- the length of the pulley cage
with features of the Super Champion OE:
- the bell-crank like operating mechanism
-
- the top normal logic
- the use of white metal for many of the key components.
- the, rather refined, black detailing
In many ways it was a clever and sophisticated component. But you get the feeling that Oscar Egg's first love was his fork-type derailleurs and that he never really put enough effort into his later models. And so they were swept away by a tidal wave of affordable, widely available and relentlessly marketed Simplex models.
