Contec is the in-house cycle component brand of Hermann Hartje KG, a wholesaler in Northern Germany. As I remember it, it is a fairly conventional wholesaler's brand - a medley of moderately generic, middling quality, Far Eastern products presented professionally but without any particular charm or pizzazz.

It is easy to damn Contec with faint praise - but every day brands like this provide millions of customers with functional products that effectively satisfy their needs.
