Terrot Cycles, Vélomoteurs - 1932

Terrot Cycles Velomoteurs - 1932 scan 1 main image

Some notable features of this stylish catalogue are:

  • The funky typeface on scan 1. It’s clearly Art-Something - but the second word might be Nouveau, Deco, Garfunkel or what. I would probably bet on Deco.
  • Nicolas Frantz (scan 3) won the Tour de France in 1927 and 1928. Incredibly he spent the entire 1928 Tour in yellow.
  • The Bicyclettes Polymultipliées listed on scan 4, fitted with a 4 speed Terrot Modèle HT gear system.
  • The idea of a woman’s motorcycle - modelled directly on a woman’s bicycle (scan 5).
  • The availability of Simplex 2 or 3 speed derailleur gears (also made in Dijon) as a ‘supplément’ (scan 6).
  • The idea that the French think that ‘email’ is a type of paint - would that it was.
