DISRAELI GEARS

SunRace 580

SunRace 580 derailleur main image

On first look everything about this SunRace derailleur looks right. The slant parallelogram, the allen key cable clamp bolt, the aluminium knuckles with rather interesting black crackle finish paint - it all looks good - at first.

However on further inspection the rear knuckle has a very short drop, as if it is from as road gear, the pulley cage is enormously long and the guide pulley seems weirdly placed - it’s like a Shimano Deore XT but designed from memory at the end of a long day. Shimano did produce an Exage model that looked a bit like this - but SunRace seems to have taken it to extreme lengths.

Very odd.
