DISRAELI GEARS
As derivatives (copies) of the Campagnolo Nuovo Record go, this is a good one. I like the placing of the adjustment screws and I like the chunky look. This version also has the Galli logo on the outer pulley cage plate - a pleasing touch.
Most notably, this particular example is finished in Galli’s signature ‘Midnight Blue’ anodising (although an enthusiastic owner has filed this off parts of the b-knuckle). I have a particularly clear memory of a ‘Midnight Blue’ Galli groupset looking like a zillion dollars on a white Italian racing bike (possibly an Olmo?) - irresistible.
However this gear is one of a number of illustrations in this collection of the rule that the more exotic the derailleur looks when new, the more tatty it becomes with use. Beauty must suffer.
