For many decades the most exclusive and expensive derailleurs that you could buy came wrapped in these ‘instructions’. Most people assumed that this was just a crumpled piece of greaseproof paper designed to keep the box looking good - and given the quantity and quality of information provided this might as well have been true.

I obtained these instructions from within the box of a Campagnolo Gran Sport derailleur. But I think that the same instruction sheet was used with a wide range of 1970s Campagnolo derailleurs.
