DISRAELI GEARS
With the closing of the 1970s the venerable Eagle design took a small, but significant steps forward. The cable clamp was mounted on the outer parallelogram plate - changing the geometry of the gear, as previously the cable clamp was attached to the front knuckle. The spring-loaded cable saver was also moved from the cable clamp bolt and built into the outer cable stop. All this clearly deserved a change of name - to Eagle II.
Note how the weight is now ‘down’ to 334g - my heaviest short cage Eagle is a trifling 466g.
