By 1991 Shimano’s programme of world domination was just about complete - as this catalogue, sporting 88 densely packed pages of technological splendour, amply demonstrates. The products may be magnificent, but the publication itself is strangely blighted by untypical typographic errors (even the title seems to be missing an ‘s’ on ‘component’) and photography with burnt out highlights that are oddly reminiscent of my own miserable work.
