DISRAELI GEARS

Ofmega

Ofmega derailleur main image

From 1987 Ofmega decided to source their derailleurs from Simplex, and this sorry-assed item was one result. Sure it’s a slant parallelogram design, sure it’s all metal, sure it’s perfectly serviceable, but all the style and pride that Ofmega expressed in their earlier designs is long gone. The castings have acne, the chrome is dull and wrinkly and the branding looks like badly applied Letraset.

In its Simplex guise this derailleur was called the ‘Vallee’. I have a vague notion that Ofmega may have called it the ‘Vantage’ - but I am extremely unsure about this. I call it ‘suicide by laziness’.
