DISRAELI GEARS
The Mistral has its enthusiastic fans - who claim it is made of a ‘hi-tech polymer’ - not ‘plastic’ (like a despised Simplex). It is a genuine, high quality, precision, cycling product, not a futuristic Action Man accessory.
This particular Mistral has an adjustable cable outer stop, 42mm long parallelogram arms (note the small space between the adjustment screws), a steel hanger bolt and sprung pivot cover and weighs 191g.
Ofmega intended that the grey colour would be the natural fit with bikes equipped with silver equipment, and expected it to be a big seller. Needless to say it turned out to be the least desirable colour - black was more practical and the lurid colours made more of a statement. I rather like it.
