Galli Criterium blue (2nd style)

Galli Criterium blue derailleur (2nd style) main image

As derivatives (copies) of the Campagnolo Nuovo Record go, this is a good one. I like the placing of the adjustment screws and I like the chunky look. This version also has the Galli logo on the outer pulley cage plate - a pleasing touch.

Strangely, this derailleur is 10g lighter than my silver example.

Most notably, this particular example is finished in Galli’s signature ‘Midnight Blue’ anodising (although an enthusiastic owner has filed this off parts of the rear knuckle). I have a particularly clear memory of a ‘Midnight Blue’ Galli groupset looking like a zillion dollars on a white Italian racing bike (possibly an Olmo?) - irresistible.

However this gear is one of a number of illustrations in this collection of the rule that the more exotic the derailleur looks when new, the more tatty it becomes with use. Beauty must suffer.
