I now think this is the first style of Criterium that Galli produced. I mainly thing this because the cable clamp arm is mounted low on the outer parallelogram plate - making it good for 5 speed freewheels - but not so good for 6 or 7 speed freewheels. I am assuming that a derailleur that is good for 5 speeds will date before versions that are better suited to more sprockets.
In terms of the variables that seem to define Galli models, this example has:
Overall, however, this Galli Criterium is a very viable alternative to a Campagnolo Nuovo Record. It is very light, strongly constructed and has clean lines and an welcome absence of Campagnolo’s baroque flourishes.
