You might think that a vast, bicycle powered, country like India would have a resplendent cycle component industry producing a veritable ocean of cheap derailleurs with a particularly Indian flourish. You could even hope for something truly retro, like a copy of a Cyclo Benelux Mk7 hopefully still in production, the derailleur equivalent of the Hindustan Ambassador.
Alas I can only detect one Indian derailleur manufacturer, Spark Engineering, which makes humble copies of the Shimano Tourney under the Spark and Starlit brands, and more recently has acquired the legendary Simplex brand.
