What is interesting about this particular tribute to the venerable Shimano Skylark/Tourney design? Well - interesting might be too strong a word for it - but I like three things:

  1. It is made in Brazil

  2. It has adjustment screws with heads clearly designed for a man-size flat-bladed screwdriver - none of your namby-pamby diminutive Phillips head nonsense. Adjusting gears is clearly a high torque activity in Brazil.

  3. The pulley bolts are branded ‘Elbrus’. Are bolts in Brazil made by exiled Russian mountaineers pining for their snowy homeland?

Given its exotic provenance, does the Dimosil embody the intoxicating rhythms of the samba, the mercurial flamboyance of Ronaldinho or the languid majesty of the mighty Amazon? No, but it probably works OK.
